Shaped Canvas

This series of paintings is driven by the idea of creating a sculptural canvas that goes beyond the ordinary flat square or rectangle. This came about as the result of an accidental rip in a piece of canvas and a refusal to waste the material. As this idea has progressed, I've begun to take more and more interest in making the shape and dimensionality of each painting more dynamic, as well as introduce negative space as a key compositional element.
